I had to do a fair bit of digging to get all the
drivers to work with my laptop, but they all do now.
What didn't work out of the box:
- TV card
- Memory Stick/SD card slots
- Hardware buttons (Volume and Play/Pause etc. work)
- Built in Camera
- Touchpad (works but no scrolling etc.)
What
Drivers I used:
Nearly all of the
drivers available from Sony are 32 bit only, and fail to install. Sony has some very unofficial 64 bit drivers at
Vaio : Support and in the end I got most of my drivers from here. There are a multitude of different drivers which say they are compatible with the VGN-AR41M, I found the best method was to download all the drivers for a particular thing, e.g. the TV tuner, extract them all into a folder like C:\Drivers, use Device Manager to manually choose C:\Drivers to search for drivers, and let Windows find the one that works.
I found
this article enormously useful, especially with more difficult matters like the touchpad. Nearly everything in that article applies to setting up a VGNAR41M, most of the hardware is the same.
I hope this helps some people, any questions welcome.
