How is the SATA controller configured in the bios? If it is set to RAID the easiest solution would be to set it to IDE mode,

    sata drivers for win7-satamode.jpg

and then it shouldn't need any drivers. Also the slight benefit if any from running in RAID/SATA mode with a single drive isn't really worth the hassle.

What was the previous OS and was the 500 GB usable?

Also found this little tidbit on the Via forums with regards to the SATA/RAID controller on your board,

    http://www.viaarena.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41460

Just from having a quick look around here,

IDE, SATA & Raid Arena - VIA Forums

it looks like that controller can be problematic with Windows 7.

Sorry, now I'm confused by that last screen shot. Where did the two 1 TB drives come from? Or am I seeing things?

    the 1tb hdd's are externals

the os before was the same "win7" and yes it was usable but this was on another board.
but that one died...well i think it did >_>...

i was using the old pc when it suddenly went off and when it rebooted i was given a nice
warm cup of blue screen and from then on it never got past the windows log in.

during boot it would ask me if i wanted to boot normally or boot into some win7 fixer program....bot did not work so i gave up on it.

few days later i went to have another go with a new os on a new hdd but even tho it would load past the log in the pc would shut down right away and would not stay in windows for more then a few seconds so im assuming that the motherboard or some hardware is screwed.
