Hello all,
My main OS is Windows 7 x64 and my monitor is
SyncMaster 2243NWX, has VGA connector and is connected to video DVI using an adaptor. For all specs pls check my profile.
I coudn't select the native resolution for desktop after installing the latest drivers and Catalyst for my
ATI 4870 and the latest monitor driver. Unchecking the "hide modes that this monitor cannnot display" option, I was able to select 1680x1050 (monitor's native resolution) in CCC and solve the problem as far as desktop resolution.
Games were however a diffrent thing, as
no game would show the native resolution in their options menus, but maximum 1360x1024. On my alternate OS (Win XP Home x86) no problem what so ever.
I remember resolving this issue some months ago, on Windows 7 x86, after a frenzy of installs and uninstalls of driver versions and restarts, but somehow I cannot remember the precise combination that unlocked 1680x1050 for all installed games.
For my monitor type the latest driver is also the first one

released in 2007. EDID editing was a bit frustrating for me, as the software indicated by other forums was not particularely easy to use and I probably got lost somewhere on the way. But I did try an EDID overwrite driver for Syncmaster 2243NW (not NWX) posted on this forum, which unfortunately did not work for me.
Is there a solution to use 1680x1050 in games on Win 7, other than change my monitor?
Thanks in advance.
