This may have been covered, but gave me a good little headache.

Go into your bios and make sure that Plug and Play OS is enabled. My setting wasnt and after I enabled it, Windows 7 detected all kinds of new stuff!

    well.. there we go again.

two modems functionning perfectly and, at once, both not recognized anymore by win7.

"can't start device, windows can't load the driver, error 31"

is written in the hardware manager, in the properties of huawei 3G modem device.

they do function with vista (another PC), and with XP (another PC as well).

Just like the previous time, win7 simply stopped recognising them.

I tried to uninstall drivers, software, clean registry, everything, and then reinstall, to no avail.

updating firmware and drivers from Huawei site didn't help either.

The laptop on which I have the problem has no option "PnP OS" to check in BIOS (so it's ON all the time by default)

The modems are read automatically when inserted, installed and everything, except the "modem" part which gets systematically an error.

In faact, it appreas that windows seven funtions perfectly for about two months, and then, for no apparent reason, refuses the modem. Last time, I never found how to make it work... and reinstalled windows from scratch.. result: modem perfectly functional

As i'd like to avoid reinstalling everything every two months, does someone have an idea by this day about "why it does it"?

    thanks :)
