    Sony VAIO vgn-sz430n drivers

I upgraded my Vaio to Windows 7 Professional (32-bit) from Vista and I am quite pleased with the improvement. Unfortunately, there are a few quirks with my machine and Sony apparently does not support Windows 7 for this model.

Video seems to be OK. But my "Fn" keys (volume up/down, screen brightness up/down, monitor selector, etc.) do not work. I also have a strange power management issue in that whenever my computer is left on for several hours it will go into hibernate or sleep (not sure how to tell which) even though I have power management set to never do that when plugged in. Also my built-in camera is not found by the operating system or software.

I have downloaded and installed all drivers from Sony, but they are all intended for Vista and for the most part are the original drivers which came with the computer.

Does anyone know of a source for drivers for Windows 7 which will work with this computer? I would really hate to downgrade back to Vista!

    Thanks much for your help.

    Best,

    Jim

if Sony don't have official Windows 7 drivers out then the best advice I can give you is compatibility mode.

The function keys and other stuff is just a consequence of this and there's not much that can be done; however I do believe that the webcam can work using the Vista drivers.

    HI, Jim!
I have the same model and SOLVED the Windows 7 compatibility problem. YES!
For the GEFORCE 7400 GO Video driver:

    - Download the Vista Business driver and install it normally:
    Sony eSupport - VGN-SZ430N - Drivers & Software

For the Webcam Sony® Visual Communication Camera:
    - Download the Windows XP 32 drive and install it:
    Sony eSupport - VGN-SZ430N - Drivers & Software

P.S.> When you are installing the Webcam driver you will receive a Windows message saying that "Windows cant verify the publisher of this driver software" (http://www.rolanddga.com/myroland/im...tion_img_7.jpg)
CLICK ON "INSTALL THIS DRIVER SOFTWARE ANYWAY" !

I hope this works for you as worked for me!
    Bye!
