    Welcome to SevenForums,

Do you know which Brand is your Acer WebCam???

Chicony, Suyin?? When you'll find the brand download at acer support site the right software for your camera.:

    Service & Support

For exemple on Windows Ultimate x64 for Acer Aspire 5536 found on Acer Site:

-Camera Chicony Camera Driver (Crystal Eye) 1.1.74.216 (2.8 MB) 2009/10/23
-Camera Suyin Camera Driver 5.2.7. (13.3 MB) 2009/10/23

    1) You will have to uninstall first from the Control Panel=> Programs & Functions, the Acer Camera software listed. Reboot, windows 7 will recognize the device then install the new software.

    2) More complicated:

Go in your Contol Panel=>Device Manager (screenshot), right click and Uninstall the" HD Video WebCam".

Reboot your computer and see if its reinstall the new device detected.

If so, reinstall the proper Acer software from the support site.

Your Acer is using the Chicony webcam if I'm not mistake and the drivers can be downloaded here Acer Aspire 5536 / 5536G driver & software | Laptop Software

These are Vista drivers and will probably work fine but you might have to load them in compatibility mode.
