    windows 7 ultimate 64bit sony vaio camera


    hi i have a problem with my laptop it is a sony vaio vgnfz430e and i recently upgraded from a windows vista 32bit to a 7 64bit and my webcam doesn't work and i have tried to install the vista version of the ricoh driver to my laptop but everytime that happens my camera isn't working or it doesnt start up please help asap thank you

    Did you install the driver in Vista Compatibility Mode??

    which compatibility mode should i click? thanks for the quick reply :)
    like i mean vista?, service pack 1?,2?

    Sony has 64 bit Windows 7 drivers listed at their US website....

    so which driver should i download? i downloaded all of the camera drivers and put them in compatibility vista and it still doesnt work

    Why would you load Windows 7 drivers in Vista compatibility mode? The link I posted shows your specific model Sony Vaio, all the drivers, software and updates for it including a Update Pack specifically for your machine to run Windows 7, suggest you download and update your machine first then the 2 camera files.

    Also you stated that you recently upgraded from 32 bit Vista to 64 bit Windows 7, you can't upgrade from a 32 bit OS to a 64 bit OS you would have had to have done a clean installation of the 64 bit, are you sure you loaded a 64 bit Windows 7? I don't know if Sony has OEM OS and if you did not use a Sony OEM dis, if this is needed, you may have other things haunt you down the road.
