Problem installing splitcam software

When trying to install the splitcam software i receive this error...the following file did not self register c:\windows\sysWOW6\actskn43.ocx.

this is a brand new laptop and i really dont wish to screw it up already by trying things im not familiar with. Im pretty savvy with windows xp but not win 7. I have researched the splitcam site forum but am still uneasy with their instructions on how to resolve this issue since it doesnt specifically mention windows 7. Here is the link. And id discribes my problem better than i can

SplitCamera Video Software :: View topic - VERSION 5.1 beta testing..

If someone can shed some light on this issue i would very much appreciate it.
Im afraid to disable driver signature (and i dont know how) for fear of messing up my system.

If there is another program that does the same thing that is compatible than by all means tell me.

Ohhh btw my pc specs are...

windows 7 home premium 64 bit
acer aspire 5745
intel core i5-450m

Thanks alot in advance for your help

Steve

Hi and welcome

According to their site it is compatible up to XP (or newer). You may be able to use it (but it is old) by installing the software in compatibility mode. To do that right click the installer>properties>compatibility mode>pick XP

thanks

thanks for ur prompt reply Ken...as it turns out i tried exactly that skipping all the other stuff like disabling driver signing and disabling uac. Just simply installing in compatibility mode and seems the issue is resolved.

Dont know why they post all that other stuff when the fix is so simple.

Again thx Ken and ill let u know if i have other issues with my new toy and system
