HP Laserjet 1015 won't work with its own driver (64-bit)
Hi
I have an HP Laserjet 1015 which both HP and Microsoft state is compatible with both 32 and 64 bit Windows 7. When I plug it in after installing a W7 OS, I get the following message-
Followed by this-
- Inserting driver.
- Driver software was not successfully installed.
I have tried updating the device driver, but Windows tells me the driver is up to date-
- DOT4 USB Printing support – Ready to use
- IEEE 1284.4 compatible printer – Ready to use
- Generic IEEE 1284.4 printing support – No driver found
- You can change your settings to automatically search Windows update for drivers.
I found a way to make it work with 32-bit W7 by using EZInstall, available from HP's site. The problem is that I have recently gone 64-bit, to find that EZInstall only works with 32-bit OSs.
- Update Driver Software.
- Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.
- DOT4 USB Printing Support.
Is there a way I can make this printer which is supposed to work, actually work? I have also looked at Windows Update Catalog, where all the 1015 drivers have pre-W7 release dates. I have seen threads on this forum on how an HP1012 can work with a 1015 driver, so I cannot understand why a 1015 will not work with its own driver.
Any advice would be really appreciated.
