    Driver Download Website

Does anyone have suggestions for a good site to download drivers from? I see a lot offering "free" software and all that. I just want a good, honest, driver resource. Anyone have any ideas?

Quite frankly I would rather download drivers from manufacturers' websites or the computer manufacturers' website than anywhere else. SOME of them can be dodgy.

The only place you should get drivers from is the device manufacturer's sites, 3rd party sites are not always up-to-date and may host malicious files.

Well the only reason I am curious, is from older systems that the manufacturers no longer support / carry drivers for those systems. I always get from the manufacturer if possible. But in some cases, I need another source...

    http://driverpacks.net/

You have to d/l the entire pack , you can't just get one driver.

Vista ones will almost certainly work fine on 7.

I d/led the lan and wlan pack - they are for 7 as well.

Well, If you want to...it is safe, but full of publicity windows popping-up each time you click a link (guess they have to pay the site quite expensive!). They do got the latest releases in general & some older ones:

Another safe and good site that has a fairly good back collection of most video/sound/chipset drivers,

    download from Guru3D.com

Comes in handy for some of them, especially when looking for Realtek drivers if you have ever experienced their less than dial up speed downloads.

Use software like Astra which recognizes the devices model etcetera

then either download it from the manufacture's site or Google it or use any other search engine.

Using software which recognizes the device and downloads and installs the driver aren't 100% accurate and besides when you download it yourself you're sure of what you're downloading and installing.
I usually use Astra to know what devices are on the PC and search them on the internet.
If you have just 1 PC I recommend download them once and put them on a storage device so taht when you format your PC you can find them easily especially the LAN driver, which without it you won't have access to the internet to download any other driver (if you don't have another computer)!!
