    Playing .ASF Files in Win 7 HP


    Hi!
    Why can't I play Microsoft .ASF files in win 7 Home Pro?

    The error says it needs an Audio CODEC. Where can I get this CODEC for .ASF Files?

    The File is from a SHARP VN-EZ1 mpeg4 Digital Recorder. There is a sticker on the camera that says "Windows Media".

    Hi Tullynally, a quick google revealed the ASF codec should be included In Windows Movie Maker, which is part of Windows Live Essentials: Windows Live Essentials

    Try installing the K-lite codec pack.

    ASF files play OK on my machine.

    I use Media Player Classic and have the K-Lite Codec pack installed.
