Don't install catalyst, if it's installed, remove it.

Boot into safe mode, remove Catalyst and your 3400 drivers.

Restart into your bios, set default graphics card to PCI Express, discrete, and disable switchable graphics.

    Save, Restart.

Have windows use windows update to try to find drivers for your card, the version I have working now is from windows update.

(if windows insists on using the driver in the catalyst temp-install directory, just delete the directory from safe mode... I think its default C:\Ati or something simple?)

Ok, I did that. It shows in Safe Mode Driver Version 8.56.1.13. Driver Date 03/10/2009. "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1" When I try to update it through the device manager, it tells me that this would be the latest driver version. When I boot in normal mode, the system crashes immediately.

What build of windows 7 are you using? I'm running build 7100, is there a chance you're on an older version, maybe a beta rather than RC? Have you run windows update? (don't know if you can from safe mode?)

You can undo your bios changes to set the integrated graphics as default, boot up in normal mode then update. When using the integrated card, the Radeon should still be visible so you can fight with drivers there instead of safe mode. I would suggest uninstalling/deleting everything catalyst put on your computer before trying to find more drivers.

Under the device manager, when you chose to rollback the driver, what version does it "rollback" to?

I took a look for somewhere to download the drivers directly. I have not tested these drivers and recommend using the ones provided with windows... however, then ones here may work.

    Maybe somebody else has ideas?

Yeah I already set BIOS to dual mode and integrated as primary, so I can boot in Normal Mode and still see the Radeon Card (with yellow mark on it).

Im running Windows 7 Build 7100 RC, too. Windows Update is on and working. The only "problem" I can think of is that I use the German Version. I wouldnt think that they customize the driver by language, but who nows.... at least I cant think of anything else.

I also was looking for the driver from Windows but couldnt find them. I think I already tried the ones you set the link for, but will try again.

    Thanks already a lot.

PS I cant roll back the driver, the option is greyed out (?).

The two DNA-ATI Drivers wont install, they tell me my Windows Version would not be supoorted, although I used the Windows7 drivers inclueded.

I guess I need a driver like this: treiber.de - Treiber und Updates für alle Systeme

jharkness, could you maybe do me the favour and search on your harddrive for the "oem3.inf" file mentioned there? I think it should be in the Windows\Inf directory. Opening it with the Editor, you sould see what the inf-file/driver is for..... maybe it says ATI blabla. Or maybe Im thinking to easy here.

Ok, I got it working now as well. I installes the App "DriverMax", which searched for all driver updates - and found the Microsoft 8.612.0.0 Version and installed it. Works fine now, also with the Advanced Mini Dock / DVI!

    Thanks alot!
