I've just installed ShellFolderFix, but I'm disappointed that it does not remember whether or not I've set the window to display the preview pane.

Like many people, I work with a mix of folders full of images and folders full of documents. Most of these documents to not show up as previews in folder windows, so the preview pane is blank and just a waste of screen space. However, I DO want all image folders to display a preview pane. I was hoping that ShellFolderFix would remember this - that's the main reason I installed it. But no, it doesn't. Any news on a new version? Could this be incorporated? Has development of this fizzled out? Sadly, it would seem so. Maybe there's some other thing that does what I need.

I have been using ShellFolderFix with great success with Windows Explorer and also with the File Manager replacer Windows Double Explorer (https://wde.codeplex.com/), but I cannot understand why it does not work with Q-Dir (Page 1- Free Software effective solutions.), once all other plu-ins do. Where am I going wrong?

    Suggested option

This is a neat little app. Using 1.1.4.

Just one thing - I use a laptop and am continually moving around using two screens, but in different relative positions.

The effect is that it often reloads a folder off the screen completely. It is possible to get around that by setting 'do nothing' in the options, but what would be quick and useful would be a keystroke option to do that on opening a particular folder.

Ie, i have folder shortcuts on the desktop, so hold down - say - alt or shift when double clicking on the folder, and just for that opening, it does not reposition.

Today I checked this thread & saw that a new version was available. So, I d\l & installed it & it works great! Like many, Win7 not saving the window size\positions has been a real problem, but thanks to ShellFolderFix, the problem is no more!

Thanks for all of your good work!

I just installed the 64bit version on a new computer I built with Windows 7 Professional 64bit, SP1. But I can't get it to work after a restart. I checked the option to load on startup and it is in the startup folder for the user. But after restart it doesn't work. I have to manually click on it. I tried moving it to the all users startup folder. When I do that, it works but the config program opens up at startup.

How can I get it to work after a restart without the config utility popping up?

    Thanks.

    How to Uninstall ShellFolderFix

ShellFolderFix does not show as a program to be uninstalled in Control Panel.
The author did users a disservice, hopefully unintentional.
There are sites which offer an uninstaller - a standard method to infect computers with malware.
Even Ccleaner doesn't show it as an option to uninstall.
I will probably go through the tedious Regedit routine, which is nerve wracking.

Any opinions or suggestions? (64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate)

Curious. ShellFolderFix 1.1.4 shows for me in Control Panel -> Programs and Features as uninstallable. Reinstalling ShellFolderFix should fix the uninstaller for you. Then you'll be able to uninstall it from there. Hope this helps. Windows 7 Home Premium

It's great that ShellFolderFix is working in Win10.... But it's a sad statement that you still need to use it in Win10.

    Georg... good app.

Adding capability for folder layout would be excellent.

Your app does a good job changing the lame Window7 back to Windows7.

    Thanks.
