    Gadgets, and how to open

I guess I am missing a point somewhere. After seeing it mentioned favorably I found and downloaded All CPU Meter V3.2. It has the .gadget extension, which of course won't open or run or install, at least for me. How do I get this to install to my desktop? Changing the extension to .exe didn't work, and searching for the solution didn't help except to find a $30 program that would do it for me. Help and suggestions appreciated.

Double clicking on the .gadget extention should cause it to be installed.

What happens when you double click it?

PROBLEM SOLVED! Further investigation and research showed that my Gadgets Platform was Disabled. I found that and Enabled it. Previously dble clicking caused the "open or save" window to appear and the selecting "open" started the Windows cannot open this.....................,etc". Now that I have enabled the Gadgets Platform double clicking brought up the 'Install" option to appear and clicking it opened the program on the desktop. Thanks for getting me started on the solution.
