Do you mean the gadgets from the Microsoft link are not working as well?

As a test, create a new administrator account, and see how they work while logged in that account.

Not here either. It told me that I already had it installed and would I like to replace it so I did. But I still ended up with just that little white square with a < in it. I have Windows Ultimate 64 bit on a Thinkpad x300 but the crazy thing is that I had this gadget running problem free ever since I got the laptop 3 years ago. It worked until a few weeks ago and is still working on my desktop.

Yup the gadgets from the microsoft website that were added by addgadget.com are not working. If I create another account, its going to leave a lot of useless files for me and I am running a bit low on hard drive space. Is there any other solution?

If the new account's works properly, then you could move what you want from the old account to the new account and delete the old account afterwards to regain the HDD space.

A lot of these issues were caused by adobe updates and adobe processes running at startup. As an easy test, you can run a clean boot to see if the problem goes away. If so suggest reenabling everything but adobe startup and see if problem is still fixed. A Guy

Another great idea but I tried it step by step and still no luck. This is certainly a frustrating problem although fortunately it's just a gadget i.e. nothing of real importance.

It is still working fine on my souped up, rebuilt HP Blackbird where this particular gadget is of much more use and interest. On this ThinkPad X300 it's just a toy.

I have a feeling that this problem will only be solved (in my case anyway) by a re-installation of Windows 7 and that sure won't happen until something really serious goes wrong.

Im having these same problems with all the gadgets from Addgadget.com(they were all on Win7 gallery until Microsoft turned off gallery)

Tried every proposed fix, but none worked.
I contacted Addgadget, so lets see what they know about it...

EDIT: Just to you guys know, I ran that scan cmd to check system files, and Ive got millions of reapired files. I got a log with 3500 lines :/
Is it normal, Since I've just installed Windows 2 das ago?

I wrote to addgadgets.com too. It has been more than a couple of weeks and I haven't heard anything back from those guys.

Ok I've eventually found a solution after trying out almost everything. Doing this on Win7 64bit.

Go to: Control Panel -> Internet Options/Properties -> Programs -> Set Programs -> Set Programs Access and Computer Defaults ; Select Microsoft Windows and click 'ok'.

Now check the All CPU Meter gadget, should be working by now.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers.
