Installing a gadget

I just downloaded the SphereTimer_English.Gadget, but I do not know how to install it.

I keep seeing that it is usually added to a sidebar, but I would like it down along the system clock.

Is it do-able?

If it is a gadget, I doubt you can put it into the system tray. Normally you install a gadget by double clicking on the .exe. But not all gadgets that work in a Vista sidebar will work on the Windows 7 desktop.

One problem, its extension is .Gadget, and not .exe .
Even after I unzipped it, when I went to double click on it, I got the dreaded...

"Would you like Windows to search the web for a program that will open this file"?

Copy it into the gadgets folder this way.

Start shell:gadgets then click on it to open the folder, then to copy your gadget into it.

Then right click on your destop to open gadgets & see if it is there, so you can click on it to start it.

If you are now just trying to install it? Rename the .gadget file to .zip.

Open the C:\Users\(your user name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets

Create a new folder and name it the same as the gadget file:

SphereTimer_English.gadget

Extract the contents of the renamed zip file to this folder. Now go to your gadgets control panel and the SphereTimer should be there. A Guy

DB, I have no shell:gadgets, when I search for just shell I got first pix.

Then I found Windows Powershell but when I went to drag the file to the x86 C prompt I got the second "red" pix....

For the Admin WPS I got the third "yellow" pix...

For one thing I'm thinking I have to re-enable "scripts"

EDIT:
will try A Guy's tip an get back....
