Windows 7: Use Vista style sidebar

Use Vista style sidebar

I am considering upgrading to Windows 7 (x64) in the near future. I have downloaded the free trial and have run into several problems. Most I have found a workaround for. One of these is the sidebar. In Windows Vista the sidebar can be displayed above open windows by pressing "˙ + Space" (see attached picture). However in Windows 7 the gadgets are glued to the desktop. I cannot see them without minimizing all open windows. I want to have the option to have them on top on command. For example I am streaming an online movie and want to monitor my bandwidth, or rendering video and want to monitor CPU usage. How can I enable to old style sidebar?

This should work. However I a question. Do I do this to the folder in Program Files or Program Files (x86) or both? I am running Vista x32 but I have the x64 media.

I would only do this in the Program Files folder as in the tutorial to see how that works. No need to do it in both.

Anyone who wants to have their old Sidebar back this is how you do it. First you need to go to your programs folder, not programs (x86), then go to the sidebar folder and take ownership of all the files and give yourself full control. Once you have done that you can make a copy of the sidebar...
