gadget for viewing folder contents on the desktop?

Hi,

I've been looking for a gadget that would let me see the contents of a given folder on the desktop, for example My Documents, My Pictures, or whatever project I happen to be working on at the moment. This would be the equivalent of the 'folder view' widget on KDE, which I really like. See here

or here for examples

Anyway, I haven't been able to find a windows gadget that does the same, can someone point me in the right direction?

thanks for that tip, I'd never heard of that! After a bit of trial and error it's looking great

I was actually looking for a native solution, but this'll do for the moment. (And I get Kile etc. into the bargain.)
