| Windows 7: Refreshing folders and missing gadgets |

Refreshing folders and missing gadgets I just upgraded to Seven Pro from Vista and everything work great except for two minor issues. The first is that every time I reboot several of my gadgets disappear and I have to add them again from the Gadget Gallery. Specifically MSN Weather, Contacts, and Clipboard manager.
That is a minor annoyance. The bigger one is that every time I make any change to a folder it looks as though nothing has happened until I right click and hit Refresh. This includes dragging a file to the folder, deleting a file, renaming a file, saving to the folder, or anything else like that.
Anyone have any ideas for these things?
Edit: Apparently I posted in the wrong place. I just saw people posting errors and figured that was where they went. Hopefully "Gadgets" readers can answer my folder question.

Welcome to Seven Forums philnolan3d. Do you have Office 2007 installed? If so, there is a registry key which is known to cause this in libraries.
If you have Office 2007 try this:
Open regedit
Start> In search box type regedit> Enter
Navigate to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{BDEADE7F-C265-11D0-BCED-00A0C90AB50F}\Instance\
Click on Instance
In the panel on the right, see if the value next to Data alongside DontRefresh, is set to 1. If so, right click and select Modify, and change the value to 0.

Hi, thanks I'm not really new here, just moved over from the Vista forum. I do not have Office installed I use either Open Office or the OnLive Desktop (office installed on another server and streamed to my tablet). | My System Specs

Never been to Vista Forum I don't post much I'd suggest try a Clean Start, and see if the problem is still present. Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

My next suggestion would be to run the System File Checker, if you already have, or it finds no problems. You can try creating a new user and see if the problem occurs there as well. SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker User Account - Create
Forgive me if you have tried all this, or are well familiar with these methods

I have tried creating a new user, I have not heard of this System File Checker. I'll check that out, thanks! | My System Specs | | Refreshing folders and missing gadgets problems? All times are GMT -5. The time now is 09:31 PM.
