media center desktop gadget not showing recorded shows on lan drive

    hello all,

i have 2 computers, a desktop with a tv tuner where i record my shows and a laptop. Both win 7 home prem 64 bits.

i would like the laptop's gadget to display the names and thumb pictures of the tvshows on my laptop, just like it does on the desktop.

But the laptop's gadget doesn't seem to want to do that.

it just sits there showing me a static image, like the one attached here.

i added the Recorded TV folder from the mapped drive into my libraries. and media center itself of the laptop can see the shows just fine.

what can i do to make this work ?

Did you map the network drive or simply navigate to it to select the directory for wmc?
Usually if you navigate across your network, the first time you goto "network" it polls everything to see what's online.
WMC probably doesn't do that for you, and it needs the drive mapped.
    Hope that helps.

    yes its mapped

i even created a home group and sharing the videos/images/music folders doesn't register with the gadget.

The recorded tv folder for some reason won't allow to be shared with the group or change anything. just says "Folder can't be shared, you don't have permission".

i'm logged in as admin and can change everything everywhere, why not this folder?

i even unlocked it (closed locked handles) with unlocker from UNLOCKER 1.9.1 BY CEDRICK 'NITCH' COLLOMB
to change perms and add to home group, no go. At all.

why is this so hard to do its just a media player for god's sakes.
it's something in windows that just doesn't allow it.

But anyway, back to the gadget problem. does it work for any of you guys to show thumbs of tvshows/pix in the gadget accross a lan ?
