I used the command line gadget fix script or what ever it was. I had tried all the fixes that the script applies manually but could not get it to work.
MS is no longer supporting gadgets as they are said to be a security threat, yet millions of WIn7 consumers love them and still want them.
The latest version of 8GadgetPack - Gadgets for Windows 8 / 8.1 seems to work well with Win7 although you may still have problems with the Windows 7 stock weather and other gadgets it includes. But there are many other choices for weather and other that work well.
