It works!

Great Garycase batchfile!

I also think this issue appearead since I moved the operating system to an SSD.
It was something that didn't happen frequently but when the gadget didn't load, I wasn't unable to unlock it and make it load except to restart system, that was really annoying.

Building your batach file and run it, the gadget finally started again without I have to restart system, so I keep it on the desktop just in case it happen to don't load it.

Batch file works great but finally found a solution that's not a work around for me!

Over the last two weeks I have tried every thing from creating batch files, uninstalling the gadgets platform, creating start tasks, resetting time formats, changing my DPI display settings, windows fixes, plus ,plus ,plus to no avail. I tried programs to delay the start of the sidebar also. The best work around was creating a batch file and placing it on the desktop. I also tried creating a task to schedule the .bat file to run and basically kill the sidebar.exe and run the .dll's without need to manually do it most times at start up when the sidebar wouldn't show up. I thought it might be due to my SSD booting too quickly, although I didn't have this problem using my SSD until some window updates were installed.

Under Computer management , task scheduler, expand to task scheduler library. I went to the task "SidebarExecute" right clicked and selected properties. Under triggers I created a new one that's starts on user login and disabled the trigger that was set for start up. This delays my gadgets from showing up for about 10 seconds later then it had previously ( when it might decide to that is), but the problem for me is finally gone!

Thanks A Guy,

Just in addition to my last post, if your in the task scheduler library and looking at the properties for the "SidebarExecute" task, the action that is triggered is "C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe /stopHidingGadgets" .When my sidebar would randomly show the gadgets, the process for the sidebar was always running even though nothing was being displayed. That's when I would always have to kill the process, reset then restart the program manually or by a batch file. My guess is that this scheduled action to unhide the gadgets is triggered sometimes before the program process starts up.

This was all after disk checks, scf /scannow, cleaning the registry, removing the .ini file and everything else I could think of or that was posted.

Very Happy now!

The MSN weather gadget is stable and very similar to the Win7 one which stopped working, but with 5 days forecast: Msn Weather - Windows 7 Desktop Gadget.

All the other ones seem to work, sometimes with IE 11 but if not by adding 8GadgetPack - Gadgets for Windows 8 / 8.1.

First I've heard of a batch file fix.

Just give up the gadgets and was your worries away. They will never be the way they were before, anyway! Good luck!
The clock and calendar gadgets are far better than non-gadget ones I've found. Likewise, there are times when I need to know how much network bandwidth I'm using, and there's gadget that I like better than desktop utilities. Likewise, sometimes I need to adjust the priorities of the CPU's, cores, and threads, and between Task Manager and one of the gadgets I can see and manage what is going on.

I'm using a hex core Gen4 i7 overclocked to 4.5 gHz, a 1TB SSD C drive, 32GB of RAM, and two 6TB drives for data--and I STILL can heavily stress any or all of those resources with my applications.

I don't have SidebarExecute in that library. But Task Manager shows that it is executing. So I can't delay it. It is not a service either.

I never had any problem with my gadgets until a few weeks ago, then rebooting would bring them back. Now rebooting doesn't bring them back.

Any suggestions, please?

I don't have a sidebar program in either Program Files or Program Files [X86]. I'm using Win7 Pro/64. Thoughts?
