Gadgets, to disable or not to disable?

    Hey folks,

I have just noticed that Microsoft recommends disabling gadgets. I only have the default gadgets which came with W7 installed and I have never installed any others. Admittedly, the only one I use is the currency one. Is it a security risk to have them enabled?

This pdf is an essay exposing the vulnerabilities.

In short, if it is stuff that talks with other things outside the PC, it's a security risk.

I'd still personally get a conventional program that does that, there are literally tons of free ones for anything, PC, smartphone, whatever.
