    Gadgets missing/won't reinstall after running Win8.1 Compatibility Too


    I recently ran the Windows 8.1 compatibility tool on my Win7 Ultimate PC. After closing it I noticed my clock and weather sidebar gadgets were no longer on my desktop. I right clicked on the desktop, selected Gadgets, and dragged the clock an weather gadgets to my sidebar and they won't show up. Please help.

    Welcome to Seven Forums DaveG43131. Do you have a System Restore point from before you ran the compatibility tool? If so, that may be easiest.

    System Restore

    If not, or it doesn't work, try turning the Windows Gadget Platform off, and back on again

    Windows Features - Turn On or Off

    Scroll down to Windows Gadget Platform, uncheck it and click OK. Reboot PC and recheck it and try again. Let us know if it worked, if not, we can try something else. A Guy

Gadgets gone missing

I just have to have the weather and the calender which hides the watermark. But they keep vanishing. UAC is still on default setting and show icons is also checked. Seems to have started after some windows updates,but not sure. Just happens randomly. I reported it as a bug. Wondering if anyone else...
