I had uninstalled the Windows Gadget Platform feature and that's why none of the XML files where where they were supposed to be (duh..).
Now that it's re-enabled I found the files and made the XML code tweaks and everything's working as advertised )
Thanks for all the great help in fixing it !!

Bongo could you also do the calendar and currency gadget I just can not seem to get them to work. Also great job and thanks on the clock.

Hey Jerry, it's wonderful what you can do when you know how. I am very much obliged to you: I've got my clock back! Well done and thank-you. Keith.
While I have the attention of them in the know: How can a gadget be a security risk? Do MS refer to gadgets that are on-line rather than a clock or calendar which I assume does not need internet access?
As far as I know yes, the default gadgets are safe. I did see on my travels yesterday (MS forum) something about re-enabling the "trusted installer ???" on altered files so that they are protected and unalterable as the originals were (that's why we had to copy them elsewhere to work with them).
That's not something I know much about tbh but I'm sure others will.
I've hit a snag today, and not I suspect the gadgets. I can't get youtube to run in IE11. 95% of the time I get freezing and a windows pop up saying the web page had to be recovered. The odd time something will play and I see a "this needs Adobe Flash to view" message for a split second. Even opening you tube and just typing in the search box causes a lockup.
OT I know but as we are all running IE11.... has anyone noticed this ?
(just trying my IE10 disc image and that's perfect on youtube)
