I think it was there in the release candidate, but I don't see it in the retail version either.
I would guess it was deliberately removed because of flaws or because the developer balked--I think some of the gadgets are developed by outside sources, not by Microsoft directly.

- All fans PWM; speeds at idle: CPU circa 500 rpm; intake circa 600 rpm; exhaust circa 600 rpm; CPU temps 27 idle and 47 C load in a warm room (27 C/81 F) when running Intel Extreme Tuning Utility stress test.
They removed the Stocks gadget from Windows 7. I prefer to use Yahoo! Widget engine ( Overview - Yahoo! Widgets ) instead of using the built-in Windows one. They have some very nice Widgets (gadgets). While I don't personally use the Stocks Widget, here is a pic of the one included in Yahoo! Widgets.
