Thanks TheOldFart and KFisch, I had the same problem with a gadget first disappearing and then clicking on the gadgets menu and nothing happening.

The fix of right-clicking on the desktop... selecting View and then un-checking Show desktop gadgets.... followed by doing the steps again and then checking Show desktop gadgets worked for me. It accomplished both things, it returned my missing gadget AND allowed me access to the gadget menu again. :)

I fixed this issue by going into Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESCAPE) and killing the sidebar.exe, then re-starting it. Might be the easiest answer...

i'm having this exact same problem. i've read every post above me and tried the method of right clicking>view>uncheck then check "Show desktop gadgets"

only the thing is that no matter how many times i click on "show desktop gadgets" the check mark will NOT disappear.

i've made an account at this website just because of this issue and i have no idea how to fix it.

Welcome to Seven Forums SuperChoji. Try turning the Gadget platform off, reboot, then re-enable

Windows Features - Turn On or Off

Scroll down to Windows Gadget Platform, uncheck it. reboot, and re-check it. See if that helps. A Guy

Microsoft Security Advisory: Vulnerabilities in Gadgets could allow remote code execution
Do we need to run the "Microsoft" fix to disable Gadgets?
Were they disabled with a windows update?
Not sure what to do here
I started my own thread can someone delete this post
    thanks

Hello, i have one sollution for this problem. Sometimes due to win problems gadgets may not show up. You can try posted treads or try mine. It's pretty simple. Open your task manager (right-click on taskbar and select 'start task manager'). In top panel choose processes. There scroll and find sidebar.exe, press right mouse button and choose 'end process'. Then try again launching gadgets. NOTE: Killing other processes may cause win istability and even not working properly. That's it, Good luck :)
