Windows 7: weather widget not connecting

clearing the cache didn't help.
i've tried a dozen different weather widgets, none work. the sidebar simply isn't connecting, and i cannot figure out why.

i've done that too - i disabled nod32, restarted, and it still wouldn't connect.

What about windows defender too? Kind of sounds like there is an exception in your gadgets establishing a connection from something.
