Are you by any chance using Vista Firewall Control in conjunction with W7's firewall? If so make sure Windows Sidebar is "enable all" both ways.

Don't you just find this issue amusing? When I reviewed all the posts here and dozens on the net about this weather gadget saying "service not available", I said to myself "All that fuzz over a weather gadget?!!" and found myself laughing :)
It's the little things that get you the most, aint it? LOL
thanks to all, but nothing is working.
the strange thing is it was working fine for a month, then it just stopped. i can't recall doing anything different at the time.
i just tried Yahoo Widgets, and weather works fine there. but every weather one i try for windows sidebar won't connect. the RSS widget connects fine though!
i tried googling for a while, and this thread kept coming up on the first page. i really hate that!
~edit~
oops i lied, the feed widget is displaying old feeds. and i just tried the currency widget, it won't connect either. so it's definitely a network issue. but i have not changed anything in my firewall, and it won't connect even when the firewall is off!

Tried any of these. They worked for me in Vista.

i'm at work now but i'll try that when i get home :)
the iweather 2.0 was even updated a couple of days ago and says it works in 7.
I have no problem with my default weather gadget, sometimes it says it's connecting for a bit after I boot up but it always does though.
