weather widget not connecting

    clearing the cache didn't help.

    i've tried a dozen different weather widgets, none work. the sidebar simply isn't connecting, and i cannot figure out why.

    Sounds like some problem with your network connection and not the gadgets.

    Just to test, temporarily turn off your firewall and AV completely.

    i've done that too - i disabled nod32, restarted, and it still wouldn't connect.

    i would be more inclined to call it a network problem if i were having other problems, but everything else is working fine...

    What about windows defender too? Kind of sounds like there is an exception in your gadgets establishing a connection from something. Have you checked out something like process explorer or autoruns and see under the tcp/ip tab if it connected.

    i thought windows defender was just spyware? i have windows firewall disabled...

    Just a minute here...how did you get Windows Defender Software Explorer in Windows 7?

    MSFT wrote it out, or so I thought.
