Windows 7 - Where Gadgets Are Installed

I have download bunch of gadgets and now I'd like to install Windows 7 also to my laptop and I'd like to use the same gadgets there. Where does it save/install all the gadgets that I have on my desktop? I'd like to copy-paste those .gadget -files to my laptop...

You find the gadgets in C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets

AppData is a hidden folder, so you have to choose Show hidden files and folders in Control Panel Folder Options View.

So, if I just add those .gadget-folders into zip package and extract to another system's Gadgets folder, it should work? No need to actually "install" anything?

Technically you can just copy over all the .gadget folders to your Windows 7 Gadgets folder and they should work fine. No need to zip. Just open your Vista gadgets folder and copy them over to a USB drive.

One very easy way to access the gadgets folder in Windows 7 is to type "shell:gadgets" (without the quotes) into the Start Menu search bar and hit ENTER.

They are also stored in C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets. Gadgets stored in the Program Files folder are accessable to all users, not just the current user.

In what folder did you install the .gadegts?
I have found the gadgets are stored in: C:\Windows\winsxs
but when I tried to save downloaded .gadgets there I got a message
that I have no Administrator permission to do that.

How did you do?

but i was wondering if you guys could help me on what i am trying to do.

i installed gadgets on my windows 7 partition that crashed and i reinstalled windows and i am trying to recorver the same settings or actually the data that i loaded into those apps, i found the apps and copied them from the gadget folder as mentioned above, however only the DEFAULT (or the ones that already come with windows) were restored to its perfect location and everything. but altho the 3rd party apps have been installed and show up on the gadgets panel they are not loaded or running as they were in the partition before, was wondering it there is anyway i can restore them .
