I want my sidebar back!!!! I'm missing my friend the sidebar
I notice the files are still there, but I cant get it to run. I have had a quick play trying to move the vista files over and that doesn't work either.
Anybody had any luck getting it running or can point me to a substitute. | My System Specs |

I thought I would try Shawn's Vista instructions for re registering the dll's etc, but it hasn't worked.
Gonna leave it alone for now and keep installing my apps, I'll come back to this one later. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number doofenshmirtz evil incorporated OS Windows 8 Pro CPU Intel Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition Motherboard ASRock X79 EXTREME11 Memory 32GB (8x4GB) Corsair DDR3 Dominator Platinum Graphics Card 2x 3GB EVGA GTX 660 Ti Superclocked+ Sound Card Creative Monitor(s) Displays 3 x27" Dell & 2 x 23" Dell Screen Resolution 3 @ 2560x1440 & 2 @ 1920x1080 Keyboard Microsoft Ergononic 7000 Mouse Logitech Performance MX PSU 1500W ThermalTake Toughpower Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Cooling Antec Kúhler H2O 620 CPU Watercooler Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 Series, 2.5" SSD, SATA III

The sidebar was discontinued in Windows 7, the only files that are still there are for the Windows 7 Gadgets (Which you can post anywhere on the desktop now.) Access them by right clicking the desktop and then click Gadgets and then you can install the new ones or use the ones that come with it. If you want them in a sidebar perhaps align them in a line. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell M1330 XPS - Laptop OS Windows 7 Build 7100 CPU Core 2 Duo T7250 Motherboard Dell Inc. 0U8042 Memory 2GB PC2-5300 Graphics Card NVIDIA 8400M GS Sound Card Standard HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 13" LCD Widescreen Screen Resolution 1280x800 Hard Drives 160GB Internet Speed 25 Mbit |

Yes, I do understand that there might be some people that want it back. However I was just stating that Microsoft didn't really intend for people to use the sidebar with Windows 7. I see that HowTo now but honestly myself I hated the sidebar.. lol
Also does the sidebar take the same amount of memory in Windows 7 as Vista or Less? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell M1330 XPS - Laptop OS Windows 7 Build 7100 CPU Core 2 Duo T7250 Motherboard Dell Inc. 0U8042 Memory 2GB PC2-5300 Graphics Card NVIDIA 8400M GS Sound Card Standard HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 13" LCD Widescreen Screen Resolution 1280x800 Hard Drives 160GB Internet Speed 25 Mbit |

It's running here at 8,308k which I think is lots less than it uses on Vista.
It seems very silly to me for Microsoft to remove the sidebar and leave the gadgets...why not just have it switched off by default and let the user deside!!! | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number doofenshmirtz evil incorporated OS Windows 8 Pro CPU Intel Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition Motherboard ASRock X79 EXTREME11 Memory 32GB (8x4GB) Corsair DDR3 Dominator Platinum Graphics Card 2x 3GB EVGA GTX 660 Ti Superclocked+ Sound Card Creative Monitor(s) Displays 3 x27" Dell & 2 x 23" Dell Screen Resolution 3 @ 2560x1440 & 2 @ 1920x1080 Keyboard Microsoft Ergononic 7000 Mouse Logitech Performance MX PSU 1500W ThermalTake Toughpower Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Cooling Antec Kúhler H2O 620 CPU Watercooler Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 Series, 2.5" SSD, SATA III

I like it also, how can we send our "two cents" to MS?
