They should work especially when installed in compatibility mode. If the gadget has an installer you should: right click it>properties>compatibily mode>check vista

Thanks for the tip. I tried 5 different gadgets again, and none of their installers allowed me to change their compatibility modes. I've been able to adjust compatibility modes on other programs, but for some reason, I can't with any of these gadgets. I found another tip online about trying to install with the UAC not on the lowest level (as mine was), and it still didn't work.
