Win7 HELP Please: Gadgets won't permanently install

    Hey all,

I'm new here so please excuse me if this has been posted before I sure hope I don't anger anyone... anyways...

Since I've install W7, the gadgets will NOT pop up on the right side of my desktop upon startup. So like anyone else would I go to my gadgets menu to double click and install the gadgets to my desktop. So the gadgets do pop up, but upon any further start ups the gadgets do not appear on my desktop. Basically, the gadgets are not installed permanently and go away after I restart/shut down the computer.
Any idea(s) how to fix this problem? All feedback is highly appreciated, thanks!!

Check in msconfig>Startup tab to make sure MS listing which expands upon mouse-over to say Sidebar is checked.

    Hi Miraclemets5, Welcome to SF,

I have a workaround for you. You could Go To

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

There Right Click > New > Shortcut , Then type there

    C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe" /showGadgets

Next and Finish then reboot and test it

    Hope this helps

Capt Jack, I tried that but the "/showGadgets" part at the end will not work =( I think some driver in my system may be corrupted/missing ??

Go to that location see whether you see sidebar.exe since its a 64-bit sometime it might be

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe" /showGadgets

    Capt Jack,

The folder does contain sidebar.exe but there is nothing in the nature of "showGadgets"

Sidebar.exe is an Application type of item and there is nothing beyond that.... help =(

In addition, whenever the gadgets are active on the desktop because I activate them after my windows starts up and stuff, and then when I goto View Gadgets menu where it lists all the active gadgets, there is nothing there.

Do you know what I mean? Basically, the gadgets ARE IN FACT ACTIVE, but the View Gadgets Menu indicates that no gadgets are actually active, and therefore not installed
