fix for windows 7 sidebar - the sidebar is a gadget

hi everyone. when i got windows 7, i was disappointed with the lack of a sidebar. i scoured the net and found everyone talking about a workaround to get it back, which i never attempted,

however, i did find a brilliant gadget, which was essentially a sidebar. again, the gadget WAS the sidebar. i downloaded it, went to 'add gadgets,' opened it, and viola, i had a sidebar. it was that simple.

unfortunately, i recently had to reinstall windows, and i have lost this gadget/sidebar, i can't remember what the exact name of it was, and i have been looking for an hour and can't find it on the net.

please anyone, if you know what i'm talking about, post back. it was very useful for me and i'd like to find it again. thanks.

    Hi robotco,

I'm not sure what gadget you're talking about that looks like the old sidebar... but here's the workaround that actually restores the existing sidebar to the Vista version: Workaround to Run Windows Vista Bar Style Sidebar in Windows 7 My Digital Life

Let me know how that works for you!

Thanks for posting that link, Biggles! Welcome to SevenForums :) Hopefully robotco has found a solution by now, but I'm sure that will be useful if they return.
