Run this if no errors post back
If errors run several times, if not fixed post back.
Let us know the results SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

Turn off anti virus then reboot, see if it works
if not
Run an antivirus scan and download and run malwarebytes. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
If this is a new problem, you can just to a system restore from before the problem
If you did an upgrade to get windows 7, do nothing, just tell me. An upgrade does not require that you reinstall your programs.
If you did a clean install, try this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R
But I would just download from here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...nalize/gadgets
Make a system restore point first.
