StarCraft II - Midnight Release So I waited up last night to pick up my copy of StarCraft II. Out of the 50 or so people in the store, I think only one was older than me, and I'm only 31. I'd be willing to bet most of the kids in there never saw or played the original. Anyway, I'll be looking forward to playing it after work tonight. Not that I am bashing consoles (I have a Wii and a 360), but it is nice to see a PC (and Mac) exclusive title get so much attention. | My System Specs |

I looked at it but checking the system requirments requires a broadband connection. I actually picked up StarCraft II myself today. A bunch of guys at work are going to be playing it and I thought it would be fun to actually have something on my computer that I might use quite a bit and get some enjoyment out of this machine.
I do think that you need a broadband connection..as you have to have a Battlenet account in order to register and activate the game. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD

That's all fine to register the product, but I want to know if a constant connection is required or can you play the game off line. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self - Build | Asus K53e Laptop OS 7 x64 | 7 x64 CPU AMD 64x2 5400 2.8 | i5 Sandy Bridge Motherboard Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H 3.3 | K53e Memory 4 gigs GSkill ddr2 800 | 8 gigs Adata ddr3 1600 Graphics Card xFx HD5670 1 gig ddr5 | Intel HD 3000 Sound Card Realtek HD OnBoard Audio Monitor(s) Displays 19" Samsung 18" NEC & 37" Toshiba | 15.6 Keyboard Rosewill RK-800G PS/2 Gaming Keyboard | Asus Chiclet Mouse Logitec MX518 | MS w/side buttons PSU hec 485w dual rail | 65w Case CoolMaster Centurion 534+ Cooling Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120mm Core Contact Freezer Hard Drives 120 OCZ Vertex II ssd | 750 Caviar Black 7200 sata | 500 spinpoint Internet Speed RoadRunner Other Info Logitec x540 5.1 audio

I tried it, played quite a few levels but never finished it. I just never really got into it. In fact I still have the original game (ver 1), as well as a guide book.
At some point in time I might give ll a try out of curiousity.
Do let us know how it goes.

Well, when you launch the game....it requires you to logon with your battlenet account....so this makes me think that you will need to have an internet connection to actually play the game. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD

I won't be buying SCII for a long time.
They decided to release this ONE game as three instead. Apparently the campaigns are being released as expansion packs.
As far as I am concerned, that is pure extortion. The original SCI had all three campaigns on ONE game, with NO need for an expansion pack except to add MORE campaigns. Here they decided to wring it out due to the popularity.
