me too, i am having issues installing 2142. it stops when it trys to install a file called titan_tutorial.bik then gives an error message saying it has not installed successfully and to start from the beginning. i have tried installing it in all the compatibility modes and admin. i dont know what i am doing wrong, shouldnt it just work with win7 by now?

Your DVD or EADM install files might be corrupt. Because installing and running the game shouldn't be a problem at all, punkbuster is the problem. If your friends or somebody you know has it too, maybe you could borrow and try their disc? If not, you could always get it by other means if you know what I mean.

Thanx for your help B. As soon as i looked at the bottom of my disk, major circular scratches (worn well) lol. I know what you mean and have figured out a way to obtain a copy of the .iso, hopefully i can get past the pb issue

Try installing the XP Virtual Machie for Windows 7 RC(I'm using 32 bit). I just installed it on mine and the install worked flawlessly for 2142. I'll update later if the game is working or not! Here's a link to the instructions for installing XPVM. I didn't do anything with my BIOS, but I did check to see if the my processor was compatible.

The way I got it to work was by setting a few files in Compatibility mode for "Windows Vista (SP1)" and "Run this program as an admin" Might want to use the option "Change settings for all users".

The files I did this to are:
    PnkBstrB.exe
    BF2142.exe
and the short cut on my desktop.

I also manually updated punkbuster before changing the settings.

Some people said to use XP in compatibility, but it never worked for me. If you still have issues, try different compatibility settings until it does.

I did somewhat the same thing NoSmoking did.

Once I got past the scratched disk problem I had to download punk buster manual update software from their website and a few clicks later had punk buster updated for bf2142. When downloading/installing updates for pb and bf i always selected the Vista option. I just realized as I'm writing this that I have been running bf as administrator and no compatability mode. (only applied this to bf.exe) Everything has been running fine, no kicks from servers or anything, just a little laggy. (but thats cuz i think my machine is a pos)

    Hi,
I've been working on this problem all night and as these posts have helped me fix it (or so it appears) I thought it perlight to say thankyou and to confirm what I carried out.

    Currently running build 7100

    Battlefield 2142 V1.5 patched
    ATI catalyst version 2009.0428.2132.36839
everything patched and updated to the yin yang!

    Downloaded latest PBsetup.
Run PBsetup from my desktop as administrator (no compatability selected)
Run 2142 as administrator (no compatability selected)
    updated PBsetup
edited 2142 mod/movies files so they don't run (change .bik to ._bik)

logged in fine and dandy!! yay!

    New build PC / Win 7 / 2142 - lovely jubly!
O and just unlocked me 4th core on X3 720!!

    Good luck all
