    audio quality in deus ex

ya ya, I know, old game, has issues, but still...

on my desktop system, if I run deus ex on D3D mode with 32 bit textures, the sound acts funny, no big deal, but on my laptop, the sound acts this way no matter what the graphics settings.

I've zipped a small recording of what this issue sounds like, there's no error in the file, that's actually what it's outputting.

    any help will be appreciated

Does the game have Audio settings you can adjust? Does it make the same sound with headphones?

tried the full range of audio quality settings, and sounds the same no matter what (I was using my desktop to record that sample through it's line in from the laptop's headphone port)

To be honest, I didn't listen to the sampling because you never can know what people include in Zip files. Nothing against you. Just a general security policy. I found where a guy on another forum claims to have fixed the problem. He was also having sound issues on Windows 7.

Open your DuesEx folder, go in to system and open "deusex.ini"

Find the section that says: [Galaxy.GalaxyAudioSubsystem]

In that section their will be a line that says "Latency=40"
    Change it to read "Latency=60"

Close the file (saying yes to save)

Restart DeusEx and the sound works fine

ya, I know, I'd put up the actual audio file, but .mp3 isn't a valid extension

tried it, and yep, worked fine, even d3D 32 bit, whee. thanks.

I'm glad that worked. It always makes me happy to hear someone found a solution to their problem. :)
