I get crashes in windows xp and windows 7, now with all the newest drivers.
please join the group of people in the far left corner who's issues are entirely different/unrelated to this.
Squall, the crashes are VERY unique and they are the EXACT same. Maybe YOU'RE the one having different crashes?
The game will suddenly freeze, the screen gets all blurry/glitchy (you can still see a disc countdown timer, however, counting down in a glitchy way). Some input from the keyboard/mouse might cause a little bit of flickering in the glitchiness, but nothing too severe. Alt + F4 will not work, no keyboard shortcuts will work. The only solution is to do a rough shut down, period.
You're telling me that there are people having these crashes on Windows 7 as a result of the W7 software, and there are people having these EXACT, SAME, - UNIQUE - crashes on XP for NO related reason???
Sorry dude, but people have been having these problems, these exact crashes, way before you even registered an account here. Like I said, check out teamliquid or gosugamers if you actually want to talk to a large group of real Starcraft players. You and 2 other friends who are all beta testing W7 is probably not a good control group for your great theories.
They ARE NOT the same.
The people here have gone from XP/Vista to windows 7 on the same hardware and are only getting the freeze on 7.
The screen does not glitch or blur. it just stops updatingThe game will suddenly freeze, the screen gets all blurry/glitchy
Squall, we're talking about different crashes, then. See these screenshots:

These are the kind of crashes people are, in general, having trouble with. Whatever you're experiencing is something unique to you, sorry.
Yep, Your issue is definitely different to the one this thread is based on.
The freeze we are getting just has the screen stop updating and controls not working. The games core also freezes but music continues, since no more battle noises occur after the display freeze.
Steve, you are stubborn. I don't know where you take your "general knowledge", but if you indeed read the TeamLiquid Thread (the largest one) concerning that topic, exactly what happens to Squall (and me) is described!
The major problematic is the simple freeze with music still playing!
yep, same for me.
altough I only crash very rarely anymore, and that only when I have winamp / skype running in the background.
