It would be helpful if you could more thoroughly fill in your system specs so we know exactly what we're dealing with.

However, two things I would try to start:

First read this: "lag" in online games with Windows 7 Read it all the way through before you make any adjustments. The multi-media class scheduler tweak really helped me, but I didn't have your specific problem of really high pings, only spikes, which weren't that bad, but bad enough to spoil my gaming; the tweak fixed all that.

Second: use direct sound for Ventrilo. It's a checkbox on the upper right in the setup menu.

Those two things should help you out, a lot, if the problem isn't related to your modem, your ISP or some other hardware related issue we won't know about till we see your full specs.
I've tried this and it didnt work.. =\. btw the specs are on page 1.

if you are experiencing lags in online play sometimes the server is the issue and sometimes you need to update you lan driver because most likly one or two are doing you in i would look into updating my lan setting possinble the driver and see what that does for you

It cant be the vid card im basicly useing the same series and hadnt had any issues unless your ram doesnt match up correctly

also look at the possablity if you have mixed ram might be two different latencys going on just saying never know

Its not the servers. This is happening on more than one game, and I've uninstalled my modem and reinstalled it, I have no idea what else to do. What do yyou mean by the ram not matching?

If you have two different ram speed types installed for example 800mhz then a 1066 mhz 2 different timmings results could vary

and like i said before not the dsl modem but your lan card on your pc needs new drivers or needs to be repaired that is the only reason why you are getting a crappy ping latency or what ever

take the drivers that came with your mobo and fix your lan device that can be the only thing besides faulty ram making you lag

try this and reply back see if this works for you

Having two kits that differ in rated speed won't result in higher pings. In this case, the bios selects the RAM rated at the lower speed, then runs both kits/sticks at that speed.
