I know nothing about xeon They are fundamentally the same as their desktop counterparts but have a few extra instruction sets/features that desktop versions do not. These extra features aren't utilised for gaming. The PC in the link uses Xeons because of the dual socket SR2 board, which needs the Xeons (because of the extra features) to be able to 'work together' - something that two i7 based chips cannot do.
