Team Fortress 2 issues Hi everyone,
I know TF2 has been discussed but I have a few particular issues and wanted to see if anyone else is getting them...my specs are in my signature.
Installed Steam and TF2...not using compatibility mode. The game loads fine, albeit a little more "flickery" than in Vista.
In the game I get frequent lag spikes and stuttering. Even on servers with 40 or less latency (which is low for me), I sometimes get a freeze and it says it lost connection.
Also, no matter at what resolution, even my native 1680x1050, the game runs sub-par. All the other games I have installed run fine, including internet games.
Anyone else getting the lag, stuttering, and network drops? | My System Specs |

That had more to do with your network than your OS. Sounds to me like you are on some really crappy servers. I have seen server latency be great but you plan and hit lag spikes. It all depends on what you are downloading and what your ping is. If your ping is high check what you are downloading/torrenting...ever little bit hurts. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7RC 64bit build710 CPU Intel Q9400 Quad: 2.66Ghz, 1333FSB Motherboard EVGA 750i SLI FTW Memory 8 gigs of OCZ Graphics Card XFX 9600GT 512GDDR3 700Mhz Overclocked. XeRo, appreciate the reply but I think it is a driver issue.
I am using the same servers I was using on Vista x64... servers in my general area, with latencies of 50ms or less (not ideal latency, but it is the best I can find and worked great on Vista)
Now I get frame rate stuttering, and I have the problem where players appear to "teleport" around a bit, meaning there is some serious lag going on. Seeing as how my main class is sniper, this does not bode well for my kill count =P
I tried changing resolutions and lowering all settings, something I never had to do with Vista... my GTX260 card has always handled this game at highest settings. Even with lowered graphics settings I still get the choppy frames, and the occasional server disconnect.
Oddly enough, I also play World of Warcraft, another network intensive game, and though my frames took a very small hit, I do not generally have any issues with connectivity. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 RC CPU Intel E8400 @ 3.6 GHz, 1.32v Motherboard EVGA 750i FTW Memory Corsair Dominator 4GB @ 1066 MHz, 5-4-4-12 Graphics Card EVGA GTX260 core 216 Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP w2207h Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Keyboard HP KB-0630 Mouse Logitech MX518 PSU Corsair HX620 Case Antec P182 Cooling Xigmatek HDT-S1283 Hard Drives 2 x Seagate Barracuda 320GB (Raid 0) Internet Speed 2MB down, 350KB up |

This may sound odd but make sure you have the latest audio drivers too. I had a problem with steam on a few old games but once i updated the sound drivers it went away. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU AMD Phenom II 1090 3.2 six core Motherboard MSI 890FXA-GD65 Memory 16 gig DDR3 Graphics Card MSI R6950 2gig Sound Card on board Monitor(s) Displays Acer 23inch led Screen Resolution 1900x1080 widescreen PSU CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W Case CoolMaster HAF 922 Cooling Box AMD Heatsink/Fan Hard Drives Seagate 1tb SATA6

I can confirm I have this too, it pulls the entire computer to lag/freeze up its not a total freeze but everything goes slow (32 bit win 7 RC), I think this began happen on the (beta 7000) as well, but not at first, I also get the same problems with Zombie Panic Source which is a mod that uses the orange box framework. And nothing to do with connection to the best of knowledge I have got the latest audio drivers too my system:

I am having this problem as well. I played using the same hardware with max settings when I was running XP, no problems. Now, when in matches with a lot of players, I get some jerkiness that sometimes looks like network lag and sometimes like my FPS is dipping really low.
Core 2 Duo 2.56 Ghz
4GB RAM
Radeon HD 4870

I've got the Windows 7 beta drivers installed for my GC and SC. | My System Specs | | |

I can confirm this as well. Its really messed up, and you have no idea what trouble I went through before I checked these boards. I agree it seems to look and feel like lag, but Ill be on servers with a steady 9-11 ping, and people will still jump around. I thought it was a router problem, because I just got a new gamer-lounge d-link router...and I installed it as I installed win7rc..but I plugged in the old one and same problem. I formatted, same problem, updated audio, video, bios...everything, same problem. I did not have any problem at all with win7beta...it started with the rc....I also have a decently beasty machine, and I tested out fraps, and I sync every frame and I never dip below 60fps. Its weird..so Im assuming it is some sort of network lag, but I dont know enough to know why the rc is causing it....Ill let you know when I stop feeling its effects!

There are two things I have done to improve the situation as well as FPS
a) Disable the Windows Media Player network service was using, this caused peroidical lag resource spikes 40% CPU for a good 30 seconds or so :/, I don't even use windows media player so I have no clue what it was doing
b) Disable indexing on my harddrives, and then disabling the windows search service which runs in the background and was using ~1-10% of the CPU
doing both things has certainly improved performance | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 7100 CPU Intel Core2Duo e6400 @ 3.20GHz Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R Memory 1GBx2 G.Skill DDR2-1066 Graphics Card Apollo HD4850 512MB Sound Card Onboard Monitor(s) Displays Dell 1707FP Screen Resolution 1280*1027 Keyboard Dell Wireless Mouse Logitech G5 PSU Silencer 450w Case Antec 300 Cooling ThermalTake Big Typhoon lapped Hard Drives Western Digital Caviar SE 250GB Sata HDD

doing both things has certainly improved performance The WMP Network service is not used or started unless your watching streaming media from the Internet, Indexing/Windows Search only runs when your machine is idle.

nvidia evga 1gb 285 Since the Sniper vs Spy update, I have read thousands of complaints to Valve's HLDS list about frequent lag spikes, stuttering and about many users getting "lost connections" caused by the update, Your not alone as it happening to me and many other in Australia too so we can only wait for Valve to re-patch the servers to fix these issues that we are seeing on our machines | My System Specs | | Team Fortress 2 issues problems?
