    Native Resolution?

My Monitor is a Flatron W2042TQ that is around a 21" monitor that runs on a resolution of 1680 x 1050. My graphics card is not a gaming one - Geforce 9400GT and I want to play at a lower resolution like 1024 x 768 without sacrificing quality. Is it possible to play it with crisp images on my screen, or do I have to get an old monitor around 15" or so?

In Starcraft 2, 1024 x 768 works fine... But in L4D, I can't see the bottom - only part of the health bars are visible, and there is no names.

you can get a 17 inch or reduce resolution but use high detail 9400gt is not a bad card most older titles play well on that hell i had a 7300gt earlier this year that was oc'ed and played games well on my 22 but like above just reduce resolution and bring the detail up high

only draw back it is going to look bigger or maybe you can window it see if it works

Is there an auto button or something that will calibrate the screen.

Could it be possible for me to run it crisp without having to get a smaller screen?

The auto button doesn't really do alot... It moves it like... a CM upwards, but it doesn't really fix it. Also, it still isn't super crisp...

you should be able to run it at a lower resolution. It will not look as good as native resolution because... well its not the screens resolution. LCDs have a number of pixels, if you run the game at 1/2 that then two pixels will be the same. CRTs on the other hand can physically change the number of pixels you can see.

so if your video card can not handle your native resolution then you have to run it at a lower resolution.

personally if i can run it at native i will do that before running it at a lower resolution with higher detail.
