Using Ps3 Controller With Windows 7

I heard there's a way to use the ps3 sixaxis controller for both gaming and general use on windows 7.
My ps3 has YLOD so I'm thinking of switching to my laptop for gaming and I'm not a fan of keyboard use for gaming

Does anyone have any details on this?

Many games for windows are made by Microsoft and tend to favor 360 controllers as xbox is microsoft.
I would recommend getting a usb wired xbox controller, they can be picked up second hand cheaply, Better still if you can find a crossfire RF receiver and wireless controller then go with that

I've got a PS2 controller that works wonders with my games on my laptop. Plenty of different adaptors you can buy which are relatively cheap to obtain to connect it to your computer.
