guys, i have installed C&C: Generals and Zero Hour all in defaults and it worked for me. i didn't change any bit of it except for the screen resolution after the installation and before i played the first game on it..

I have done exactly what you say I have to do to get the game to work, it was also an epic fail I still get the same error messages.I know for a fact it cannot be my Ati card as I had no problems when I was running Xp.
This is getting depressing, I think I am reaching the point where I am about to give up and down grade back to Xp
Sorry to hear that mate. I know how you feel, I 'was' close to at the very least, setting up a dual boot with XP because of this as I love the Command & Conquer series of games. (apart from CNC4).
I hope you manage to get it sorted mate before you drop Windows 7. Consider doing a dual boot if anything so you don't lose this quality Windows 7?

and secondly i also tried ZeroHour to my other computer with Windows 7 32bit its also running on Integrated or chipset graphic card with "GMA G31" its better than " Integrated Intel® Extreme Graphics 2" but i haven't encounter any problems with it not a single of it
Just wanted to chime in here:
C&C Generals / Zero Hour has problems with Vista, too.
I tried very hard to make it work 2 years ago and gave up.
I got this game working. It does not install properly on Windows 7 but can be fixed manually quite easily.

thanx a lot @"ukgovsucks" & @sister 101..i had the earlier version & zero hour..which were not workin.. yes the games r workin now on my win7 32bit
all you need to do is go to tools folder options view tab and uncheck "hide extensions for known file types" then zero hour to the latest version then make the options.ini file in the C:\Users\youraccountname\Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data as the link says above. after that right click zero hour shortcut then run to compatibility select xp service pack 3 then below check run as admin. you should be good to go. if what i said does not work reinstall both gen and zero hour. once you do this make sure the generals and zero hour folders are gone from the EA folder. then do what i said above. also before you run the game make sure you have the latest gfx drivers and directx.
I have this game and it installed and worked great with my machine might be you're gfx card or some driver related issue maybe it dose not like 64 bit don't have an answer for you but it works fine with the 32bit win 7 ultimate I have .
