    The next thing to try is going to the shortcut and running it in compatibility mode for XP-SP3 and run as Administrator.

    yea, i have tried repeatably to get a screenshot of the "app" tha comes up, but i just aint fast enuf

    i have tried this as well, and it fails :'(

    the only thing is, i know of a few people (read on other forums) tha have the opposite problem, multiplayer works but not single :/

    Wow, that as to be something I would've never would of thought of.
    I wounder if you mute the mic in your sound panel it would start up or just do the same error.
