I have just installed COD 1 GOTY edition on windows 7, everything installed fine but when i try to play multiplayer i get this error message:

i have tried running it with admin and also tried in XP mode SP2 and 3. any ideas to the problem? (apart from it being a 7 year old game :P)

Don't have the game for pc, but it seems COD1 has problems on Win 7. People have tried to a new library, etc., but to no avail. Sorry.

COD1 worked perfectly for me on 32bit, though I do not own the GOTY edition.

Make sure you have the latest nVidia drivers installed, most people that had problems with this game was because of the drivers.

As an alternative, you can try forcing the game to run on a single core (if you have a dual core CPU or above).

One last thing, if none of the steps above work, download the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable", preferably directly from Microsoft's website.

Glad you solve your problem but, if you don't mind, it would be nice if you can post what you did in order for others to be able to solve the problem as well should they be in your shoes in the future.

    Enjoy the game!

yeh no problem, ill find the file i used.

    Download atioglxx.rar

Just need to extract the file and then place it in your Call of Duty folder e.g. C:\Program Files\Call of Duty\
