It seems you were trying to run the CD in the native Win7 OS. You need to link the CD drive to the VM and run it in the XP VM...

Marble Drop installed and working in Windows 7 X64!

Marble Drop installed in Windows 7 x64!

    Here are the steps:

    1. Install Windows XP mode if you do not already have it installed.

    2. Run Windows XP mode and copy the Marble Drop install CD files into a folder in XP mode.

    3. Install Marble Drop in Windows XP mode and check that it runs.

    4. Copy the entire installed program folder C:\Program Files\Maxis\Marble from XP mode to the identical location in Windows 7.

    5. Search the registry for "maxis" in Windows XP mode and export the entire key that is under "HKey_Users". Merge this key into the Windows 7 registry.

Marble Drop should now run in Windows 7 x64!

It worked for me.......Please let me know if it works for you.

That method does indeed work. Do you know if that works for the Sorry! CD-ROM and Ultimate Yahtzee? Even if I cannot play them, then does someone know if I can use that to extract the music from the Sorry! CD-ROM? I have been trying to do that for a while now and have not yet succeeded. Perhaps someone will post a way to do that.

The reason that this problem exists is more than likely that the program is thatt old that it possibly contains at least some 16 bit code, which is not supported in 64 bit operating systems.

As for extracting music from the game, this would be a breech of copyright and thus we cannot assist with this

I tried doing it with Sorry! and it didn't work. I exported the Third-i Productions key and received an error about not being able to access the registry (or something to that effect). I did notice that both Sorry! and Ultimate Yahtzee have for more registry entries than Marble, Drop des. My guess is that that is due to the requirement of the disc to be inserted (as Sorry! cannot be played without the disc inserted and Ultimate Yahtzee permits playing of only Classic Yahtzee without the disc inserted and the CD music function obviously requires the disc).
