Computer shutting down on World at War

Recently my computer has been shutting down whenever i am done downloaded maps on the multi player for WAW. Ive tried deleting my mods and maps folders along with running the program in XP compatibility mode and that still doesn't work. All my drivers are up to date.

Windows 8 Professional x64

I installed WaW and run the game with no problems using no compatibility modes on Windows 7 Pro x64

I have had problems with other CoD games in the past with removing and adding mods/maps causing freezes and crashes

reinstalling the game after erasing all mod/map and CoD folders and starting fresh fixed the problem for me
